Pianist James Williams

Artist Representation

Beginning in 1990, Paul worked closely with pianist James Williams. A geniune friendship led not only to informal business associations but also to more structured positions. Paul was for five years Secretary and Treasurer of James's NYC company, Finas Sound Productions, and also acted as his official Artist Representative from 1995-1998. The two continued to collaborate until James's untimely passing in 2004.

Paul has also represented and continues to work with renowned Washington, DC-based piano legend Dick Morgan.

Artistic Direction and Booking

For seven years in the early and mid-1990s, Paul was the Artistic Director and frequent producer for Twins Lounge, an intimate Washington, DC jazz club.

Paul made significant improvements to the Twins performance space, and established Twins' policy of booking national artists to perform with Washington's best musicians.

James Williams, Fred Hersch, Harold Mabern, Jr., Arnie Lawrence, Mulgrew Miller, Cyrus Chestnut and Geoff Keezer are just a few of the artists Paul brought to Twins Lounge. The Twins continue to consult him, and Paul still enjoys lending a hand, occasionally presenting one of his friends or assisting with publicity & promotion.

Production and Promotion

From late 1993 through March 1999, Paul was Secretary & Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Finas Sound Productions, Inc., a New York City jazz company. His responsibilities ran the gamut from tax and project accounting and artist contracts to stage production, advertising and promotion.

During Paul's tenure, Finas Sound produced eleven highly-acclaimed concerts in Merkin Concert Hall; six major NY club events at Zinno and Sweet Basil; and a dozen recordings -- all featuring such world-class artists as Ron Carter, Christian McBride, Milt Jackson, Clark Terry, Tommy Flanagan, Jimmy Heath, Billy Higgins, Marian McPartland, Donald Brown, Ray Bryant, Jon Faddis, Monty Alexander, Greg Osby, and many, many others.

Website Design

One of Paul's recent obsessions is computer technology and web site design. In addition to this site, he recently created a web site for one of Washington, DC's outstanding jazz artists, pianist Dick Morgan.

Paul is a die-hard Mac user.
